CNF Workshop: Today: Fox and Askew. And that’s a wrap for this portion of our program. Revisions should have been posted to the blog. I will approve them, and if there’s time, I will try to put together a “before” packet of essays that you can compare to the revisions on the blog. (I might not get to it until we return from break, though.)

We’ll have a bit of time because we won’t have workshop again until Jan. 6. On that date, you will have responses to some revisions due — four or five, probably. You won’t have annotations to do; you’ll just need to leave a comment on the blog. (Or write one out longhand if you can’t access the blog.)

What should be in a comment about a revision? Here’s what I suggest each should contain:

1. Address what has been added. Is there a new moment? A new beginning, or closing? What effect do the additions have?
2. Address what has been subtracted. Did we lose a moment, for example? And is the subtraction a good thing, or do you miss any of the excised material?
3. Address any further questions or suggestions you might have. Hopefully, revisions make the piece better. (They don’t always.) But don’t be afraid to point out things you still don’t understand, or believe could be improved.

Screenwriting Workshop: Today we finished round 4. Round 5 is revisions only and is optional. You have until Monday, January 6 to post if you wish to take advantage of this.

Fiction Workshop:
