Poetry Workshop: Today: finished discussions of Fox and Turner, Round Four. Then started Round Five with Cianfarano. We’ll finish that discussion Wednesday and then tackle Turner, Lewis and someone else.

For Wednesday: comments and annotations for McClintock and Andrasko.

Short Fiction Workshop: Workshopped Kelly, Rae, and Cecilia. Holding Kat over to Wednesday, as well as Christy. Handed out Alyx, Allison, & Sydney. You should have all of these ready to go on Wednesday. I know it’s a lot, but it’s the only way we’re going to get through all of this by LAVA, which is our ultimate goal.

Long Form Fiction Workshop: Round 5 due. Full page response to A long way down due on Monday.

Daily Prompt: Reading/notebook check. Then we started writing a young adult novel. Sort of.

You had to come up with 1) a protagonist who is much like you, but has one important difference; 2) an antagonist (can be based on someone from real life; can be someone completely different; and 3) a setting. It can be a real place, but it’s a performing arts high school, you at least have to change the name.

Then you need to write the first section (let’s say ‘section” instead of chapter; it should be about a page long). We talked about ways we WON’T start these: the alarm-clock opening; the “it seemed like it was just going to be another average day” opening; the villain monologue opening (?). So your job is to figure out a better way to begin.

Remember, this can have fantasy elements, or it can be completely realistic — your call.

BatCat: We’ll hopefully be staying after Wednesday and Thursday. Please check your schedules and/or rides. Remember, we have until the end of next week to finish ALL of this. That is not much time.

7/8 Lit Arts: Please turn in your essay/pitch for your final project if you have not yet.

7th Grade: Your 2 page final story is due by June 2nd.

Survey: Screenwriting: Today we went over montage and then you had some time to work.
