CNF Workshop: Two prompts: “This was the summer of…” and “Icebox Man.” We’ll do another one on Wednesday, and then go over some workshop guidelines.

The first essays are due on the blog by midnight on Labor Day (Monday, Sept. 7). If you are having WordPress issues, ask!!

Screenwriting Workshop: Today we went over the syllabus (Screenwriting 8.31.15 – Syllabus), Celtx, and WordPress posting guidelines.

Your homework for Wednesday is to write a short screenplay, sequence, or excerpt. The details are further discussed on the last page of the syllabus file. Please hand these in via uploading to the blog (as we discussed in class). If you have any questions or need help, please see me asap.

Less Miserables: Began watching The Producers. We’ll finish Wednesday and I’ll give out the syllabus.

BatCat: Today some of you started organizing the store room and the rest of you started working on submissions. Though it is not homework, feel free to work on submissions any time.

Middle School LA Enrichment: Today we went over the syllabus (Middle School LA syllabus Fall 2015) and I gave you this permission form (Permission Slip Middle School Fall 2015) to fill out and return by Wednesday.

Then I read you the Ray Bradbury short story “The Whole Town’s Sleeping.” We just got finished, so we didn’t have time to talk about it — that’ll happen next Wednesday.

7th Grade: Did an exercise in ambivalence (call it mixed feelings): your old school.

Survey: Poetry: Today we reviewed the syllabus (Survey Poetry syllabus Fall 2015) and read some poems from Chapter 2 in the Three Genres textbook.

If you want to work ahead, I will want you to have read Chapters 1 and 3 by next Wednesday, Sept. 9. (We’ll be watching something Wednesday during class, and there’s no school Monday because of Labor Day.)

Survey: Fiction: Today we went over the syllabus (Fiction 8.27.15 – Syllabus) and you took a survey/pretest in class (Fiction 8.31.15 – First Day Survey Pretest).
