CNF Workshop: Today: Denny and Ohlund. We have two more essays — Hill and Hamilton — to workshop Wednesday, to finish rotation three.

You’ve already responded to those (I hope), so no assignment for Wednesday. However, your fourth-round piece is due on the blog by 8:45 a.m. Thursday. Earlier is better.

Screenwriting Workshop: Today we workshopped Abigail, Rhyan, and Anthony. Please have Faith, Haley, and Andi ready for Wednesday.

Less Miserables: You worked on Scene Two of your script, and on song lyrics for the second song.

BatCat: Prep for events.

Middle School Lit Arts: We wrote down examples from our own lives of “be careful what you wish for” moments, and of moment of great relief (like Trisha felt in Tom Gordon when she discovered the fenceposts and the road). You began transforming these moments by “raising the stakes,” a term you’ll hear a lot in the years ahead.

For next week: finish Tom Gordon. I gave out copies of Malcolm Gladwell’s The Tipping Point, a book we’ll begin just before Thanksgiving break.

Middle School: Watched The Twilight Zone episode “Where Is Everybody?” We talked about the historical context of the show, and about how your arts majors contributed to it, via writing, acting, filming, movement, music, etc. Then you wrote down a time when you felt along. We’ll come back to those Friday.

Survey: Poetry: Fiction midterm.
