Pulp: Sending out notifications. Next week’s schedule TBA, but our big day is two weeks from now: March 4. That is the date we will look over the revisions submitted and make (mostly) the final calls on our lineup.

Project: Today part 2 of your proposal was due. If you did not give one to me, you need to do so ASAP – there are precious few grades this semester, and this is a big one.

Cultural Literacy: I gave you a handout from Panorama about 1. the Greek creation myth, 2. the pantheon of classical mythology (13 deities), and 3. the three Os and P. That would be Orpheus, Oedipus, Odysseus and Prometheus.

We watched a vegetable version of Oedipus, the first tragic hero. We began watching the opening of 1988’s Die Hard, which relates to the tale of Odysseus.

Monday Mr. Cageao will be with you to talk more about the pantheon. We’ll continue OOO+P stuff Wednesday.

BatCat: We have a lot of stuff going on these days.

Survey: CNF (TR): We went over material for a quiz Thursday. It’s essentially this handout CNF overview 2015, plus this one CNF ethics guidelines February 2016(which we filled out in class), plus the author of our first three essays. Yes, you’ll need to know his name. And yes, I will probably ask you a hypothetical question or two about potentially libellous material.

Your second essay is due next Thursday, Feb. 25. It can be on our latest topic (a time you were afraid to tell someone something), or on one of the earlier five topics we wrote moments/moment trees for (not, obviously, the one you chose as the subject of your first essay). No length requirement: it has to be long enough to get the job done. Which is to say, a couple of grafs isn’t going to work.

Survey: Screenwriting (TR): Today we went over scene headings – what they are and how they should be used. Here’s the sheet handed out in class: Screenwriting 2.17.16 – Scene Headings Handout.

We set a due date for your silent screenplay (Screenwriting 2.10.16 – Assignment 3, Silent Script – part B): Thursday, March 3. If you have any questions in the meantime, do let me know. Otherwise, I look forward to reading these and seeing what you all come up with!
